Narath is a 53-year-old retired policeman. He is married with three children who are all in school. At home, he likes to help his wife, to take care of their children, and to watch Khmer movies on TV or listen to the news on the radio.
In April 2020, Narath fell off the roof of his house and fractured his left arm. He visited a local clinic where he had an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) procedure on his humerus to repair the fracture. Now his fracture is healed, but he still feels a nagging ache in his arm. Doctors want to remove the hardware so his arm can heal completely.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On July 8th, Narath will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. This procedure will allow him to strengthen his arm so he can use it without pain.
Narath says, “I am looking forward to using my arm again so I can help my wife in the house, and find a part-time job to help us financially.”

Narath underwent removal of hardware used to heal his fractured arm.
Narath traveled three and a half hours for surgery to remove the hardware from his arm. His procedure went well, and he rested at the hospital for several days to make sure the surgical site was healing before making his journey back home. Narath also worked with the physiotherapist to increase the strength in his arm. As a result, he can now return to the activities he enjoyed before he was injured. By regaining the full use of his arm, he will also be able to find a new part-time job to support the family finances.
Narath’s wife said, “I am happy my husband’s arm will be completely healed, and we can work together to raise our children. We want to thank the staff and the donors who made this possible for him. We are all grateful for the care he received.”
