Unith is a 22-year-old young mother of two from the mountainous region of southwestern Uganda. She lives with her husband, Ambrose, in a small village. They both work as subsistence farmers, mainly growing food for their family and selling extra for income. When she is not working, Unith enjoys weaving mats for home use and visiting with friends and relatives in the village.
Unith is pregnant with her third child. Her last pregnancy was difficult because her baby was positioned incorrectly. This baby is also in the incorrect breech position, and as a result, Unith is considered a high-risk case.
She walked the 14 kilometers to the hospital to seek treatment from maternity specialists. Unith and her husband were able to contribute $7 towards her pregnancy care. Our medical partner in Uganda is seeking $241 to fund the rest of her pre-natal, delivery, and post-delivery care. She will begin treatment on August 11.
After her successful delivery, Unith wants to start a small business selling household items to earn money for her children’s school fees. She thanks the donors for ensuring that her child enters the world safely.
