This is 55-year-old Leang from Cambodia. He is a rice farmer and enjoys listening to the news on the radio.
“Leang’s vision began to blur two years ago because of the pterygium in his right eye,” Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) tells us. “It is difficult for him to work on the rice farm making it hard for him to earn money to support his family. Leang’s eye burns and is irritated.”
“Leang traveled four hours from his village in hopes for a successful surgery,” CSC writes. And CSC clinicians have recommended a corrective procedure which will improve his eyesight and reduce his current pain.
And we can make it happen by raising $150 to cover costs. Let’s get Leang the care he needs.

Leang received surgery to restore his eyesight.
Leang underwent his pterygium surgery without any complication, freeing him from the pain and blurry vision he previously experienced. Doctors successfully removed the abnormal tissue in Leang’s eye that was impeding his vision and keeping him from working efficiently on his farm.

This can happen for several reasons, particularly with patients who live far from the hospital or clinic where treatment occurred. We were therefore unable to get a post-op photo of Leang to share.
