Masrey is a 69-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has five children, six grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the radio and watching after her grandchildren.
Five months ago, Masrey developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Masrey learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On October 1st, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.

Masrey underwent cataract surgery.
Masrey has returned home after a quick and successful surgery. Masrey’s visual acuity has improved, which will greatly improve her quality of life. She looks forward to being able to go places independently and see her children and grandchildren’s faces.
“I am so happy that I can see everything more clearly than before and now I am able to help my family around the house and on the rice farm, and I am to go anywhere I want to on my own.”
