Meet Morris, a 27-year-old man from Kenya and the eldest of three children. He is a trained tailor but has had a difficult time working since his accident earlier this year. While riding on a motorbike, Morris was hit from behind by a car that lost control. He has been diagnosed with a right tibia fracture and ostreomyelitis (infection in the bone) and can no longer walk without support. “Morris has had more than four operations since the accident,” explains our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation. “His parents, who are farmers, ended up selling their land and cattle when Morris’ medical bills became too much for the family.” For $1,500, we can fund the bone transport necessary to repair Morris' damaged tissue and get him back on his feet again. Without treatment, he might end up needing an amputation due to severe infection. “I have watched as my parents sold everything they had so that I can walk again. I want to be able to walk and work again so that I can help my family,” Morris tells us. Together, we can make this dream a reality.

Meet Faith, a three-year-old girl from Kenya. Faith is the youngest of nine (that’s right, nine!) children. Her parents own a small farm, which they depend on for their daily consumption. They also work small jobs around their village to provide for the basic needs of their large family. Faith has a brain tumor. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation explains, “as a result she experiences convulsions, headaches and feels weak. Without treatment, her tumor will likely be fatal.” With nine mouths to feed and provide for, Faith’s parents cannot afford the cost of the surgery she needs. They are deeply distressed because they know that they cannot pay for the treatment which will most likely save their daughter's life. Faith’s father says, “I feel so sad watching my daughter’s health deteriorate. How I hope that she will be treated as soon as possible.” We can help her father's wish come true! For $1,500, Faith will receive a craniotomy, a surgery that our doctors are optimistic will save Faith's life. Let's give Faith the chance to grow up and have a happy, healthy childhood with her eight siblings!

Kyaw Nyein is a playful six-year-old boy who lives with his loving parents and older sister and brother in Burma. Kyaw Nyein was born with Thalassemia, a disorder that causes the weakening and destruction of his red blood cells. Kyaw Nyein requires around the clock care as his condition makes it difficult for him to eat, stand up, walk, or breath normally. Kyaw Nyein cannot go to school because he requires frequent blood transfusions and constant assistance. His mother has had to stop working on their family’s farm and now his father and eldest sister must support the rest of the family which has put a great deal of stress on the family. Kyaw Nyein is eager to go to school and play games with his friends, but cannot do so until he receives treatment. For $1015, Kyaw Nyein will undergo a splenectomy. This operation will allow his abdomen to grow normally so that he can stand, walk, lie down, and breath without assistance or bouts of fatigue and weakness. Once Kyaw Nyein can eat and sleep normally doctors expect that he’ll grow rapidly and be strong enough to go to school where he can learn with his friends!
