Despite receiving a month of traditional Khmer medicine, 26-year-old Veasna is still living with a painful fractured right forearm. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), shares that Veasna acquired this injury from a car accident in late October.
"I can't do anything since the accident and it is difficult to write," he says. Veansa is a university student in Cambodia and is pursuing a degree in finance, so his injured forearm makes doing schoolwork much more difficult. When he isn't studying, "he enjoys playing volleyball, and watching the news on TV," CSC shares.
He sought treatment at CSC after one of his sisters had a successful surgery there in the past. Doctors recommend that Veasna undergo an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) procedure to fix his forearm. During this procedure, doctors make an incision to realign and set the bones with plates and screws. $405 covers the cost of surgery, food, hospital stay, and post-operative care.
CSC expects that Veasna will be able to return to his normal life and keep pursuing his finance degree with a healthy arm.
"I hope after the operation I can write again with my arm and continue going to school," Veasna says.
