Rany is a 70-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia, with one son and one grandchild. She lives with her family, who are also rice farmers and shared that her husband passed away five years ago.
About six years ago, Rany developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Rany learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours by taxi with her grandchild seeking treatment. On September 21st, doctors will perform small incision cataract surgery (SICS) and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Rany said, "I hope once my eye is better I can help my grandchild do some work at home and go places by myself again."
