Harka is a 40-year-old man from Nepal who lives with his wife and three children. His family is entirely dependent on agriculture. When the going gets tough, Harka migrates to India to work as a laborer. Recently, Harka fell from the porch of his house and fractured his right arm. Since the accident, Harka was in immense pain, and his hand was swollen. He needed help to eat or put on clothes. His family traveled six hours to seek treatment at our medical partner's care center, Bayalpata Hospital. On November 10, Harka underwent a fracture repair procedure. Now he needs help to fund this $195 procedure. He'll also undergo physical therapy to help him regain full use of his arm. In time, his arm should heal fully.

Susan is a 19-year-old young woman from Uganda. She visited our medical partner's care center, Bwindi Community Hospital, when she was pregnant with her second child. Two years ago, Susan gave birth to her first child through C-section. This time, her doctors recommended that she undergo another C-section. Susan checked into the hospital on November 29 to await delivery. Susan lives with her family fifteen minutes from Bwindi. Her husband, Asa, is a farm laborer who picks tea leaves. Susan grows potatoes, beans, cassava, yams, and Irish potatoes to feed the family. They cannot afford her treatment, so they need help to raise $241. Suzan is looking forward to nursing her child. She also hopes to send her child to school. “I am very thankful to the donors for the great help towards my treatment," says Susan, "and I pray for their blessing in everything they do.”

Sarim is a 72-year-old vegetable seller who is married and has two sons, one daughter, and sixteen grandchildren. She likes to go to the pagoda to listen to monks pray. She also enjoys watching the news, comedy shows, and Thai dramas on TV. One year ago, Sarim developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and burning. It became difficult for her to see things clearly, work, and go anywhere on her own. When Sarim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three hours to seek treatment. On January 3, doctors performed a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Sarim will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure. "I hope to see everything more clearly," says Sarim, "so that I can work easily. I want to go to the pagoda or anywhere else by myself without needing to disturb others to take me."
