Rey is a married, 58-year-old rice farmer, living in Cambodia with his wife and youngest daughter. Together, he and his wife have one daughter, five sons and five grandchildren. Rey's wife is also a farmer, while his daughter is a garment worker.
Three years ago Rey developed a non-cancerous growth in his left eye, most likely as a result of sun damage. This growth disrupts Rey's ability to see clearly, and negatively impacts his quality of life.
Rey traveled for four hours to see help from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. It was determined that Rey requires surgery to remove the affected tissue; the procedure, medications, and supplies will cost $225.
Rey is now scheduled to undergo surgery on October 4th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, and hopes for your support to cover the cost of his surgery to help him see clearly again.
Rey said: "I hope after surgery my eye will stop tearing and I can see better. I hope to plant rice well again."
