Yetebarek is a 12-month-old cute boy from Ethiopia, the first born to his parents. He loves to play with other kids and play with water. His mother was forced to marry at age 16, by abduction in a traditional way. She was in grade 5 at the time, and is now 20 years of age. After her wedding she was forced to drop out of school and then started work as a cleaner in a government office. Now after she gave birth to Yetebarek, she is not working any more. Yetebarek’s dad is a shoe shiner, with limited income to support his family well.
Yetebarek was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility.
Fortunately, Yetebarek is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on April 7th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,231 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
Yetebarek’s mom said, “I lay all my hope on God.”
