Luz is a three-year-old girl from a mining town in central Bolivia. Her mother is a farmer and her father sadly passed away from a heart attack soon after she was born. Luz has a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect, in which a hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart. Blood leaks through this hole without passing through her lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her weak and dependent on an external oxygen tank. Fortunately, our medical partner, The International Cardiac Alliance can help. Luz is scheduled to undergo heart surgery on March 21st. Our medical partners are requesting $1,500 to fund her procedure. Luz's mother says, "I am looking forward to my daughter being able to play normally and start preschool after her surgery!"

Anne, a seven-month-old baby from Kati, is adored by her parents and three siblings. Anne was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. She previously underwent surgery to correct the condition, but the surgery was unsuccessful. She requires a shunt to drain excess fluid from the brain and reduce intercranial pressure. Without treatment, Anne will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is helping Anne receive treatment at Hospital Bernard Mevs, the only site in the country where this care is currently available. On April 10th, surgeons will perform a ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) surgery, giving an opportunity for Anne to grow into a strong and healthy young girl. Now, Anne's family needs help to fund this $957 procedure. Anne's mother says: "I hope this surgery will allow my daughter to grow up healthy"

Tadesse is a 2-year-old boy from Ethiopia, who loves playing with other children. His mother is a single mom and they live with his grandmother who is sickly. The family has difficulty making ends meet. They rely heavily on donations of food from the government, other charities, and their neighbors. Tadesse was born with an inguinal hernia, causing him pain and weakness. Fortunately, on February 27th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $512 to fund Tadesse's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Tadesse's mother said “I hope with this surgery, my child will heal. I will go to church and give the gift I promised to God if he heals my child. When he is old enough, I will ensure he goes to school."
