Tumuhaise is a 29-year-old woman from Uganda who works as a small-scale farmer alongside her parents. Crop productivity has been affected by a prolonged drought, in turn reducing her family’s income and making it difficult for her parents to support themselves, Tumuhaise, and Tumuhaise’s nine other siblings.
Since 2011, Tumuhaise has been experiencing lower abdominal pain associated with menstruation. About one month ago, she began bleeding very heavily and experiencing severe pain. She was diagnosed with multiple large uterine fibroids and, if not treated, is at high risk of developing anemia.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund a total abdominal hysterectomy for Tumuhaise, which is scheduled to take place on June 15. After surgery, Tumuhaise will no longer experience pain and heavy bleeding, allowing her to live more comfortably.
“I thank Watsi for its good services of helping the needy like me and I hope to be relieved from the pain I am experiencing,” expresses Tumuhaise.
