Loudiana is an eight-year-old student from Haiti. Loudiana was born with a heart condition in which a hole in her heart (which normally closes shortly after birth) remained open. Blood leaks through this hole without passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her short of breath.
Loudiana is also deaf. She lives and studies in a boarding school for children with hearing disabilities, and she is fluent in sign language and Braille. In particular, Loudiana likes painting and drawing in school.
On May 4, Loudiana will undergo cardiac surgery at St. Damien Hospital, our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is asking for $1,500 to cover the cost of her surgery. Gift of Life International has already contributed $5,000 towards her treatment.
Loudiana’s mother is very grateful for all the help from the donors, and she is so excited that her daughter is receiving the care she needs.
