“I thank the donors for supporting my treatment,” says Mable. “I couldn’t afford it on my own.”
Meet Mable, a 58-year-old lady from rural Uganda. She and her husband are farmers who raise beans, millet, and cassava to eat and sell. In her free time, Mable enjoys teaching her grandchildren how to weave baskets and mats, visiting with her friends, and attending church.
Mable was well until about two months ago, when she started feeling abdominal pain and experiencing other troubling symptoms. The pain quickly became so bad that she had to stop farming. After seeing several doctors, Mable was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The cancer has progressed to the body of her uterus.
In order to relieve her pain and to stop the cancer from spreading to other organs, Mable needs a hysterectomy. She and her husband do not have enough savings to pay for this life-saving operation. But you can help. By raising $321 together, we can sponsor Mable’s surgery on August 31, as well as her lab tests, five-day hospital stay, and medications.
After surgery, Mable hopes to resume farming and even to start a business to support the costs of her grandchildren’s education. Let’s make sure this remarkable woman has many happy years ahead of her to accomplish these things.
