Lai Sorn is a 62-year-old dessert seller from Cambodia. Lai Sorn lives with her sister who is also a Khmer dessert seller. She is the eldest child in her family and shared that she enjoys watching Khmer dramas on TV.
Life has become more difficult as three years ago, Lai Sorn developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going outside independently.
When Lai Sorn learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled there with her close friend seeking treatment. On September 29th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Lai Sorn said, “I hope the surgery is successful so I can see clearly and continue my business selling Khmer desserts, and I can help my sister with all of the housework.”
