Aziirwe is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is a widow with ten children, and all are still in school. Her husband passed away four years ago, and Aziirwe was left to care for her children alone.
Six years ago, Aziirwe began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty breathing and persistent headaches. She was diagnosed with a euthyroid goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Aziirwe receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 6 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Aziirwe says, “I will continue with cultivation after surgery to take care of my children whom I was left with.”
