Koeun is a 39-year-old construction worker. He is married and has two young children. His wife was previously a factory worker, but now stays at home to take care of the children. Koeun has been able to support the family through his work in construction.
In July 2021, Koeun was involved in an electrical accident that severely burned his left arm. His coworkers immediately took him to a provincial hospital where he was referred to a government hospital in the capital city of Cambodia due to the severity of the burns. The doctors there cleaned and dressed the wound, but the condition of his arm has progressively worsened over time.
Koeun visited our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center (CSC), where doctors determined that he had lost motor function in the arm and it will need to be amputated above the elbow. The procedure will prevent any further complications and once he has recovered, Koeun will have physical therapy to ensure his comfort. Now, CSC is requesting $446 to fund Koeun’s procedure and care.
Koeun shared, “my life will be different after this treatment, but I am glad I can get this help. I want to go back to my family and work hard to support them.”
