Pat is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three children, four grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the radio and clearing the weeds from the rice field in her free time.
Five months ago, Pat developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurring vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Pat learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 4, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I hope that after surgery, I am able to look after my grandchildren and help plant rice at the farm.”
