Dora is a girl from Tanzania. She is the youngest child in a family of eight children. Her parents are livestock keepers and small-scale farmers.
Dora was involved in a fire accident early last year. She was playing with her older sister next to their fireplace when her Maasai clothing caught fire. By the time her mother arrived, she had been burned severely.
After Dora completed her treatment, her skin contracted. This has made it impossible for her to use her arms. She needs help carrying heavy things, and her neck movement is also limited.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Dora receive treatment. On January 10, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help her move her neck and hands. Now, her family needs help to fund this $832 procedure.
Dora’s mother says, “Since my daughter was burned and healed she has been having a hard time using her arms due to the contractures. Please help her.”
