Baby Evelyn lives with her family in rural Guatemala.
She has been diagnosed with malnutrition. Even though Evelyn is eight months old, she is the size of a healthy four-month-old. She is at risk of developing permanent brain damage if she is not treated.
Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq (WK), will begin a treatment program for Evelyn on April 17. Evelyn will receive a supply of formula and micronutrients. WK has organized for a nutritionist to create a personalized nutrition plan for Evelyn. They will also teach her mother about creating nutrient-rich meals.
Evelyn’s parents need our help to pay for their daughter’s treatment. With $1,162, we can give Evelyn a chance to grow into a healthy and strong young girl.
“I wish for my daughter to grow well and one day become a teacher,” shares Evelyn’s mother.

Evelyn underwent malnutrition treatment.
Since beginning treatment for lactation failure, Evelyn has been gaining weight and growing taller. Evelyn’s mother has learned a great deal in the nutrition classes, as she says that beforehand she did not know anything about a how much to feed her daughter or how to give her a healthy diet. With continued treatment, we are confident that Evelyn will continue to grow and thrive.
Evelyn’s mother says, “I am grateful with the program because without breastmilk my daughter was not growing, but now with the formula she is gaining weight. Thank you also for the water filter, because it helps our family greatly.”
