Juana is a spirited 16-month-old child. She lives with her family in Guatemala. Her mother takes care of their home, and her father works as an agricultural day laborer. Juana likes to eat pasta and potatoes, and she loves playing with her dolls.
Juana has been diagnosed with malnutrition, a condition that results from consuming too little protein, calories, and nutrients. On March 20, Juana will receive treatment for malnutrition at Clinic Tecpán, our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, is asking for $492 to cover the cost of Juana’s growth monitoring, micronutrients, and food supplementation. Funds will also go toward an educational program that will teach her mother how to create a nutrient-rich diet for Juana using limited resources.
After treatment, Juana will be able to grow healthily!

Juana to fund malnutrition treatment.
Since beginning treatment for malnutrition, Juana has been gaining weight and growing taller. Juana’s mother notes that she has learned a great deal in the nutrition classes. With continued treatment, we are confident that Juana will continue along this healthy trajectory.
Juana’s mother says, “Thank you for the filter, which has helped very much so that we can consume safe water. Being in the program helps our family a great deal. Thank you for all that you have given us.”
