Rosalinda is a 47-year-old mother from the Philippines. Rosalinda and her husband have two children. Rosalinda stays home to care for her children, while her husband works as a security guard to support their family. During her free time, Rosalinda enjoys cleaning their house while watching her favorite television shows.
One year ago, Rosalinda began to experience some concerning symptoms, including difficulty swallowing and dry throat and lips. Upon seeking treatment, she was diagnosed with a colloid goiter, or lesions in her thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), can help. Rosalinda is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 22nd at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and WSFP is requesting $935 to cover the cost of Rosalinda’s procedure and care.
Rosalinda shared, “While I am scared going through the surgery, I just think of spending more quality time with my family after my treatment. There is nothing I want more than spending the rest of my life taking care of my children so I am very grateful to all the people who will help me make this happen. Thank you very much for giving me hope.”
