Tuhwerirwe is a business lady from Uganda. She is a married mother to four children who are studying in both primary and secondary levels. She earns a living through operating a small retail shop selling second-hand shoes while her husband works on construction sites. She lives in a one roomed rental house in town, together with her children and husband. With her children school fee expenditure and high costs of living in urban compared to their low in come, it has been hard for her family to make ends meet.
Since two years ago, Tuhwerirwe has been experiencing pain and abnormal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with pre-malignant cervical lesions. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Tuhwerirwe’s surgery. On April 21st, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Tuhwerirwe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Tuhwerirwe says, “I hope to be treated of this condition and the risk of cancer will be eliminated.”
