Srey Mom is a 46-year-old housewife who has one son, three daughters, and three grandchildren. She is from Cambodia and enjoys watching Thai dramas on TV and joining ceremonies at the pagoda.
Two years ago, Srey Mom developed a pterygium, or growth, in each eye, causing her burning and tearing. It is difficult for her to see things clearly, do any work easily, and go anywhere outside. Srey Mom is worried about going blind.
Srey Mom traveled for three hours with her daughter to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment. Eye surgeons at CSC will remove the pterygium from each eye to allow Srey Mom to see clearly again. They have requested $148 for her surgery, which will take place January 11.
“I hope that I look better and feel more comfortable than I do now,” Srey Mom says, “so that I can cook and clean around my home easily.”
