Glendy is a 32-year-old woman who lives with her husband and two children in Guatemala’s rural highlands. While Glendy’s husband works as a day laborer in the countryside, Glendy works at home, takes care of the children, and sells food in her neighborhood.
Since she was a little girl, Glendy has struggled with her eyesight. She has been experiencing increasingly blurry vision and headaches, however she had never had the chance to visit an eye doctor. One month ago, Glendy received the opportunity to attend a free eye clinic, where doctors diagnosed Glendy with myopia, or nearsightedness. In order to fix her blurry vision and inability to see faraway objects, Glendy needs glasses.
Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, is requesting $552 to fund Glendy’s glasses and prescription lenses.
“I feel very grateful to be the beneficiary of this support, for it will be of great help to me so that my vision does not worsen. My favorite hobby is to do embroidery, and I haven’t been able to do it with my eyes like this,” says Glendy. These glasses will greatly improve Glendy’s eyesight, which will help her in her work and daily life around the house.
