Five-month-old baby Pedro lives with his family in Guatemala’s rural highlands.
Pedro has been diagnosed with malnutrition. Pedro’s mother is unable to produce breastmilk and cannot afford to purchase baby formula. Pedro is underweight and small for his age. The lack of nutrients in his diet has dangerous implications for his health and development.
Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, has organized for Pedro to begin a treatment program on June 8. To stabilize his condition, Pedro has been given a preliminary supply of formula, which will last until our nutritionist can create a personalized plan and formally begin treatment. Pedro’s mother will also be taught how to make nutrient-rich meals for her son. The total cost of this program is $1,162.
Let’s help to support Pedro’s recovery and give him a chance to grow up healthy and strong.
