Edward is a 40-year-old father of two from rural Uganda. In order to support his family and send his children to school, Edward works as a motorcycle taxi driver. In his free time, Edward likes to play soccer with his children and listen to the news on the radio.
Edward was involved in a road traffic accident that left him with an open fracture on his left hand and carpal bones in need of stabilization. That evening, Edward was involved in a hit-and-run accident, and community members found him alone and bleeding profusely in the middle of the street. He was rushed to our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital, for further examination. Doctors have recommended performing internal fixations on his bones in order to facilitate healing.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $358 to fund Edward’s fracture repair surgery and hospital stay. The procedure is scheduled to take place on July 10 and, once completed, will hopefully restore Edward’s mobility and allow him to return to the activities that he greatly enjoys.
“I thank the donors for the support they are giving towards my treatment, my savings are not enough to pay my treatment costs,” says Edward. “The donors do not know me, this is a very generous gesture, and may God bless them abundantly.”
