Ponleu is a tenth-grade student from Cambodia. He has three siblings, and enjoys reading books and helping out around the house in his free time.
Ten years ago, Ponleu had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Ponleu experiences discharge and hearing loss. Ponleu is unable to hear others clearly and has a difficult time concentrating and communicating at school.
Ponleu traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On November 19th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
“I hope that after the operation, my son will feel better and I will no longer have to worry about his condition.” - Ponleu’s Father
