Kasenene is a 70-year-old farmer who, for the past two years, has been too weak to work.
In 2004, Kasenene started experiencing severe abdominal pain, swelling, and vomiting. She visited a nearby clinic and bought painkillers, but after her condition did not improve, she visited our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, and was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and an ovarian cyst.
She was advised to have a total hysterectomy, removing the uterus and cervix. If not treated, Kasenene may develop anemia due to the prolonged bleeding and the cyst may rupture.
Kasenene is now scheduled to undergo a total hysterectomy on May 30, and is requesting $268 to cover the total cost of the procedure.
After surgery, Kasenene hopes to have peace of mind and resume farming.
