Asiimwe is small-scale farmer and mother of three. Her children are all young, between 1 and 3 years. Her husband is a bicycle mechanic and the two own a single room for shelter for their family.
Four years ago, Asiimwe started feeling neck pains with a small swelling. The swelling has been progressively increasing in size over time. She has never visited any medical facility for medical attention. Rather she has been using herbs which have not helped her unfortunately. She loses her voice most of the time, has severe headaches, mild airway blockage, and over sweating when doing a simple job. The swelling is now painful for her as well.
She came to our Medical Partner’s Care Center Rushoroza Hospital to seek medical attention. Her family however cannot afford the surgery that doctors have recommended.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Asiimwe receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 4th. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $293, and Asiimwe and her family need your support.
Asiimwe says, “I hope and pray for a successful surgery. I will resume farming as soon as possible and be able to develop my family.”
