Luka is a 54-year-old farmer and a married father to seven children, including five girls and two boys. He shared that he and his family live in a small mud hut with a grass roof and the family grows most of their food on their farm, including millet beans, and vegetables. Luka enjoys spending his days on the farm and he is the primary breadwinner in the family.
Over a week ago, Luka injured his left leg while coming home from the farm. He fell and when he stood up, he had sharp pain in his leg. He cannot walk and he is unable to work due to his injury. He said he feels distressed because he is not able to provide for his family.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On July 7th, Luka will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Once healed, Luka will be able to walk and work at his farm. Now, AMH is requesting $809 to fund this procedure.
Luka shared, “I just want not to be in pain anymore and be healthy and happy and have a good life because my family needs me the most.”
