Mujuni is a 43-year-old father of ten. He practices small-scale farming and primarily plants bananas, a staple food in Uganda. Mujuni shared that it is costly to transport the farm produce, but he works hard so he can provide education for his children.
Two years ago, Mujuni began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty breathing, hoarse voice, and heart palpitations. Upon review at the local hospital, the doctor diagnosed his condition as a goiter and recommended surgery. When Mujuni learned about our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), he visited their care center for treatment. He hopes to undergo surgery to prevent his symptoms from worsening so he can resume his farming pain-free.
Fortunately, AMH is able to help Mujuni receive treatment. On April 5th, he will undergo a thyroidectomy, in which surgeons will remove all or part of his thyroid gland. AMH is requesting $252 to fund this procedure.
Mujuni says, “After my surgery, I think I will be able to get better and gain my health back.”
