Cleodonia is a 46-year-old farmer who is the mother of nine children. She was able to complete primary-level education but could not continue due to a lack of funds for her school fees. Cleodonia and her husband practice small-scale farming, but they also take up casual labor at times to supplement their income and sustain their family.
For some time now, Cleodonia has been experiencing backaches, lower abdominal pain, and heavy menstrual cycles at irregular intervals. She has been diagnosed with a solitary uterine myoma, or a tumor in her uterus. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Cleodonia’s surgery. On July 7th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Cleodonia will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Cleodonia says, “My children are still studying. We work to pay their school fees. In such poor health, I cannot work, but with your support, I will be able to regain my strength and enable them to achieve their dreams.”
