Innocent is a 52-year-old man from Mukongoro, a rural village in Uganda. He makes bricks for community houses and owns a small crop of land, where he farms sweet potatoes, beans, and cassava. In his free time, Innocent loves spending time with his children and helping them with their homework after school. He also enjoys reading his Bible, attending church on Sundays, and meeting up with neighbors as part of a local community group.
Innocent has been living with a left inguinal hernia for the last six years. In recent months, the hernia has become so painful that it’s impacted his ability to work and take care of his children. Unfortunately, since he is no longer making a steady income, he can’t afford to pay for treatment.
On July 3, Innocent will receive hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, The Kellerman Foundation, is requesting $229 to fund the operation.
“I thank donors for helping me get treatment,” says Innocent. He looks forward to recovering so that he can get back to work and hopefully one day build a house for his family.
