Twongyeirwe is a primary teacher from Uganda. She is a mother of four and lives with her husband, who is also a primary school teacher. Her first (22yo) and secondborn (21yo) have recently completed diplomas in civil and electrical engineering, respectively. Her third born is twelve years old and in secondary school, while the last is nine years old and in fifth grade. They worry about funding their children’s education because of the COVID-19 related financial crisis.
For the last four years, Twongyeirwe has experienced discomfort and disfigurement on her jaw. She been diagnosed with a sub-mandibular mass that needs to be excised.
Twongyeirwe traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On July 16th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Twongyeirwe needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure.
Twongyeirwe shared, “With the surgery, I believe I will be able to work comfortably. I will not be worried about the possible expansion of the swelling and I will do my duties normally. I will resume teaching as soon as the government lifts the ban on primary schools operations.”
