Karan is a student who lives with his parents and siblings. His parents are farmers, but the yield from their field can only feed the family for three months of the year. When the going gets tough, his father goes to India to work as a laborer.
Karen fractured his left ankle a long time ago. Since then, the injury has become deformed and swollen, making it difficult for him to walk. Karan and his father took a nine-hour jeep ride to reach our medical partner’s care center, Bayalpata Hospital.
Karan’s father shares, “We belong to a very poor family and couldn’t afford money to treat him in the private hospital. So I brought him here knowing that the treatment here is free.”
On February 19, Karan will receive a cast to treat his fractured ankle. Our medical partner, Possible, is requesting $541 to fund this care.
“I hope his leg will be normal again and he will walk easily,” Karan’s father says.
