Balikunzira is a 73-year-old man from Uganda. He is married and is a father of seven children, all of whom are adults.
Three months ago, Balikunzira developed a swelling in his right inguinal region. Since then, he has experienced backaches and abdominal discomfort. He has been unable to work in the fields. He received painkillers from a health center, but his symptoms did not improve.
Finally, a friend referred Balikunzira to our medical partner’s hospital, Holy Family Virika Hospital. On November 2, he underwent a hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund this procedure.
After recovery, Balikunzira hopes to continue farming and open a retail shop.
