Kelvin is a married man and a father to one child from Kenya. He works as a cook at a small café in Nairobi. To supplement their income, his wife, Mary, works as a house help. They live in a one roomed house in a pro poor settlement of Nairobi.
On 21st of August 2016, Kelvin was in a road accident while coming from a burial which left two people dead. He was brought to Kijabe, a Watsi partner hospital, and had a surgery on his left leg and hand. However on review, he had a fracture on his right leg while the left humerus had a fracture still. Surgery was recommended. Kelvin has not been able to go back to work since the road accident. He has to rely on his wife to provide for the family. If not treated, Kelvin risks having permanent disability and being completely dependent on others. The pain will persist as well.
For $1,410, we can fund the open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery Kelvin needs to fully heal.
“I want to be well to provide for my young family and my siblings who are yet to be employed,” Kelvin shared.
