Kidus is a cute and playful little boy. He loves playing with toys and football with other children. His favorite food is Shiro (Ethiopian staple food) and meat. He also loves watching cartoons and is good at observing and imitating some characters from cartoon shows. He is the only child in the family. His dad is a tailor, employed at a local tailor shop. His father uses the little income to provide food for their family and pay rent. Kidus was born with a congenital anomaly called bladder exstrophy and he underwent surgery at BethanyKids with Watsi's support in 2021 to heal this condition. He was also born with a congenital anomaly called epispadias and has an inguinal hernia. Now he is scheduled for epispadias and right inguinal hernia repair. Epispadias impacts his ability to urinate and puts him at risk of future complications. Kidus is now much more playful than beforeand his family can see how intelligent he is. His family also shared how very much better psychologically they feel after his first treatment. But they are still worried about his urinary condition. He is now scheduled for the two surgeries that will take place simultaneously, and his family needs financial support. Kidus' father said, “Kidus means the world to me. To see him completely well will bring me so much joy. I want him to have a great personality with a kind heart; just like the amazing people helping him recover and become healthy. I really hope that he becomes a doctor in the future and helps those who are in need.”

Immaculate, who is 35 years old, lives with her family in Uganda. She and her husband work as small-scale farmers, and together, they have three children. Immaculate is currently expecting her fourth child. As she delivered her first three children via Caesarean section, for the safety of both Immaculate and her baby, doctors are recommending that she deliver this child via a C-section as well. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Immaculate undergo a C-section on May 11th at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. This procedure will cost $252, and Immaculate needs your support to cover the cost. Immaculate says: “I am in financial difficulty, and I cannot afford this procedure. Therefore, I am appealing to the donors to help me with my operation. I will resume farming after the surgery to support my family."

Meet Pho, a 55 year old father of four, who lives with his wife. At home he likes to grow vegetables around his house to supplement the family's diet, and to earn extra money. For the past five years, Pho has suffered from chronic nasal congestion and headaches. He has trouble sleeping and he often has to breathe through his mouth. He could not afford treatment at a local hospital, so instead, he purchased medicine from a pharmacy, which did not improve his symptoms. Left untreated, Pho's condition can cause obstructive sleep apnea, which can lead to other serious medical problems. Fortunately, Pho's son told him about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, and the medical work they do for Cambodians. After meeting with the doctors, Pho was diagnosed with a deviated nasal septum. This occurs when the nasal septum is significantly displaced to one side, making one nasal air passage smaller than the other. Now doctors have planned a septoplasty for January 17th at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, and Pho needs your help to pay for the surgery, which will cost $397. After his surgery and recovery, Pho will be able to breathe through his nose easily, which will be a big improvement in his life. Pho shared: "I hope after surgery, it will be easy to breathe and the headaches will stop. I will be able to do my work and sleep well."
