Francis is a forty-four year old father of four. He is a hardworking farmer living in southwestern Uganda. From his farming, Francis is able to provide a living for his family. He proudly shared that all his children are in school. His wife helps on the farm as well and their family’s income is only sufficient to meet their day to day needs.
Eight years ago, Francis developed a small swell on the crown of his head. Over the years, the mass has increased considerably and has also become painful. He has tried treating it with local herbs, while trying to conceal it with a head cap, but it has not receded. He is unable to carry anything on his head, which is difficult considering he is a farmer. Luckily, the lump is not cancerous, but he needs a mass excision to relieve him from the discomfort and pain. He appeals for financial assistance to make his surgery possible.
Francis traveled to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), to receive treatment. On November 18th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Francis needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure.
Francis says, “I pray and hope to look normal again through surgery. I feel inferior in public and I hope to get another chance to have another way of life. I will continue with farming to be able to take good care of my family.”
