Yorn is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons, three daughters, and eleven grandchildren.
One year ago, Yorn developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, a cloudy lens, irritation, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yorn learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On February 9, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
Her son says, “I hope my mother’s surgery is successful so she can easily go about life independently.”
