Vithearin is a 49-year-old man from Cambodia. He is married with one son and one grandchild. In his free time, he likes to play soccer and watch the news on TV.
About four years ago, Vithearin developed a pterygium—a growth of tissue—in each eye, causing him blurred vision, irritation, and burning. It is difficult for him to see things clearly, do any kind of work, or go anywhere.
On June 9, eye surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the pterygia from Vithearin’s eyes, allowing him to see clearly again. CSC requests $148 to cover Vithearin’s medical care relating to this procedure.

Vithearin received successful eye surgery.
Vithearin’s eye pterygium was successfully removed from his left eye, and his clear vision has been restored. He feels much more comfortable with his improved sight, and will return to have the pterygium removed from his right eye, as well.
Vithearin says, “I look good and feel comfortable again so that I can continue my work as a policeman.”
