Samnang is an 11-year-old boy from Cambodia who is in the fourth grade. He has three sisters and four brothers. He likes to draw pictures of animals, read his school books, and watch action movies on TV.
Samnang has a congenital amputation, and as a result he was born without a part of his right leg, below the knee. Samnag has arrived at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), with a wound on his stump.
Samnang’s parents heard about CSC from their neighbor who had been to CSC before. Samnang traveled for four hours with his mother to reach CSC for treatment.
On July 13, surgeons at CSC will perform a stump capping procedure to prevent bony overgrowth in Samnang’s amputation stump. This will allow him to feel more comfortable. The $327 requested to fund Samnang’s treatment will cover the full cost of the procedure, including a hospital stay, labs, radiology, supplies, and surgeon time.
