Veasna is a 52-year-old electrician. He is married and his wife sells soft drinks and snacks from their home to earn a living for their family. Together, they have two sons and two daughters. Due to his vision, Veasna has stopped working as an electrician and stays home to help his wife with her grocery business. In the evening, after they close the store, he likes to listen to the news on the radio.
Two years ago, Veasna developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him pain, blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going outside.
When Veasna learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On January 5th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $229 to fund Veasna’s procedure.
Veasna shared, “After surgery, I hope my eye can see better and stop being in pain, so I can go back to work and can help my wife sell groceries. I want to be able to take of myself and can go places by myself.”
