Meet Georginah, a 39-year-old single mother from Kenya. Georginah lives with her 20-year-old daughter, who has finished high school but has yet to go to college due to a lack of funds. “Right now I am hopeless!” shares Georginah. “I am really praying and hoping that things will get better.”
Georginah has breast cancer in her left breast, causing her pain. The pain has forced her to stop working and rely on her 20-year-old daughter to run her vegetable selling business.
To prevent early death due to the spread of cancer, Georginah needs a mastectomy, a surgery that will remove all breast tissue from the breast. “We expect after treatment, Georginah’s life will be saved,” reports our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). “The risk of cancer spread will be reduced.”
$740 will fund Georginah’s mastectomy, which will allow her to return to work and provide for her family. “Georginah is in desperate need of Watsi support if she is to receive this life saving surgery,” AMHF adds.
