Rachel is a 23-year-old woman from Uganda. She is happily expecting her second child. However, she is still recovering from a fresh C-section scar, which she sustained giving birth to her first child 20 months ago.
Due to the high-risk nature of this second pregnancy, her doctors have recommended that she undergo another C-section. To ensure a safe birth, Rachel will be receiving care at our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital, beginning on January 3. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is asking for $258 in funds to cover her hospital stay fees, blood tests, and the proper materials needed for a stable, healthy delivery.
After recovering from giving birth, Rachel is looking forward to continuing her work as a small farmer with her husband, Apollo. Together, she and Apollo grow cassava, bananas, millet, and groundnuts. They support their family by farming and by selling the mats Rachel weaves in her free time.
Rachel and her husband are saving money for school fees so they can send their children to school.
“I wish to express my gratitude to all the donors that are supporting my safe birth,” says Rachel. “After this pregnancy, I hope to take a break and first raise my two children.”
