Neila is a bright and happy 2-month-old baby from Haiti, with four brothers and sisters.
Neila has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, causing an increase in intracranial pressure, and in Neila’s case, seizures. Without treatment, Neila will experience severe physical and developmental delays as she continues to grow.
Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Neila, at Hospital Bernard Mevs. This is the only facility in Haiti where care for hydrocephalus is available. The procedure, which will drain excess fluid from Neila’s brain, is scheduled to take place on June 23rd, and is critical for the reduction of the intracranial pressure, and for Neila’s growth as a happy and healthy child.
Neila’s family is looking forward to her growing and no longer being unwell.
