Santiago is a baby from Tanzania. He is the youngest in a family of four children.
Santiago was diagnosed with genu valgus. His legs bow inward so that her knees touch. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, he cannot walk well and feels pain whenever he walks for a distance.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $940 to fund corrective surgery for Santiago. The procedure is scheduled to take place on May 16. Treatment will hopefully restore Santiago’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Santiago’s mother says, “I am humbly requesting more support so that my son can walk, run and continue to grow like other children.”
