Komungaro is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. Komungaro had eleven children but shared with us that only four of them are still alive. Her children have not had a strong educational background, with primary school class seven being the highest class attained by a few of them. Most of her children are small scale farmers and only able to offer minimal support to her. Her husband is also quite old and cannot go to the fields to practice farming or any other income-generating activity.
For the last one month, Komungaro has been experiencing pain and abdominal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with postmenopausal bleeding. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $228 to fund Komungaro’s surgery. On September 8th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Komungaro will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain and her quality of life will improve.
Komungaro says, “I am helpless and I have lost hope because I am in severe pain. I will resume farming as usual provided I am no longer in pain. I may therefore be able to still take good care of my husband.”
