Ashaba is a 17-year-old student from Uganda. He lives with his parents, who are farmers, and his eight siblings.
Ashaba has had a swelling on the right side of his neck for more than five years. The swelling has affected Ashaba’s self esteem.
Ashaba and his family lacked the finances for him to seek treatment for the swelling at a hospital. Having heard of Watsi’s programs with our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), at Nyakibale Hospital, he decided to seek help.
Ashaba was diagnosed with a keloid and doctors recommend mass excision surgery. AMHF requests $187 to pay for the operation, an overnight hospital stay, lab tests, medicine, and supplies. He will undergo surgery on September 12.
Ashaba’s mother says, “I hope to continue with farming to support my son’s education. My son will also have peace of mind after surgery.”
